JERLUN, Nov. 1 -- A 45-year-old farmer is believed to have been killed after he was allegedly attacked with a machete by his brother-in-law in Kampung Pida 3, near here, yesterday.

Kubang Pasu District Police chief Supt Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said police received a report on the incident from a member of the public at about 7.05pm, stating there was a fight between two men.

"The suspect was arrested at his house and a 30-centimetre machete was seized. A body was found lying in a paddy field nearby.

"Before his arrest, the suspect, who was still holding the weapon, attempted to attack the police but surrendered after being persuaded for 15 minutes," he told reporters last night.
