MIRI, Sept. 28 -- An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing into the rear of a lorry that was stopped at a red light along Jalan Airport here yesterday morning.

Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Abdullah said in a statement that a report was received regarding the fatal accident, which occurred around 10.15am.

He said initial police investigation at the scene found that the motorcyclist had crashed into the rear of the lorry while it was stationary at a red light.

"The motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the scene," he added.

Mohd Farhan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
