KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 17 -- Malaysian men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia retired from his first-round match at the China Masters due to injury, after trailing 6-14 in the deciding game against Taiwan's Lin Chun-yi.

The match took place at Shenzhen Arena today, where Zii Jia started strong by winning the first game 21-17, according to The Star.

The 27-year-old missed a match point at 20-19 in the second game and eventually lost it 21-23.

Zii Jia appeared to struggle with movement in the third game and was forced to quit, marking another setback in his return from an ankle injury.

This was only his third tournament since returning to competition, following a five-month layoff.
