KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 23 -- Severe weather conditions brought the city's rail network to a standstill yesterday afternoon when fallen trees caused widespread power outages across two major train routes.
Heavy rain and strong winds that began at 3.30pm triggered multiple tree falls along railway lines, highlighting the vulnerability of Malaysia's rail infrastructure to extreme weather events.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said the power supply disruption at 4.24pm affected critical routes between Salak Selatan-Port Klang and Simpang Batu, cutting off thousands of commuters during peak evening hours.
