ISKANDAR PUTERI, Sept. 11 -- A total of 62 heads of households in Segamat affected by the mild earthquakes are eligible to receive up to RM3,000 each.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the assistance aims to ease the burden on families following a series of tremors from August 24 to September 3.

"The state government, with the support of the federal government through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), has agreed to channel the monetary assistance to the 62 head of households who have also filed police reports.

"Despite being mild tremors, I understand the residents' concerns when the ground we are standing on suddenly moves," he said at the Johor state legislative assembly in Kota Iskandar today.
