SIBU, Nov. 7 -- A total of 221 individuals were arrested and drugs worth more than RM120,000 seized during a month-long anti-drug operation codenamed 'Op Tapis Narkotik', carried out by Sibu police between October 6 and November 6.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkpili Suhaili said the operation, led by the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD Sibu), resulted in 256 cases being opened under various provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Poisons Act 1952.

"Of the total arrests, 206 were men and 15 were women, including three foreign nationals," he said in a statement today.

He added that police also confiscated 3,163.55 grams of methamphetamine (syabu) valued at RM120,214.90.
