KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 9 -- The Health Ministry (MOH), through its Food Safety and Quality Division (BKKM), is investigating claims that a woman died after consuming a health supplement that recently went viral on social media.

BKKM said preliminary checks found that the product contained the active ingredient glutathione, which is listed under the Negative List - a list of substances or products prohibited under the Drug Registration Guidance Document (DRGD).

It also found that the product was being sold on e-commerce platforms and social media.

"Therefore, the product does not comply with Section 13B(2)(d) of the Food Act 1983, which prohibits the inclusion of any substance not permitted under the Act or its regulations.
