Kuala Lampur, Oct. 30 -- Dengue cases in Malaysia have shot up by 77.3 per cent (47,352 new cases) this year up till October 26, 2019 compared to the same period last year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad told Parliament today that up that cumulatively there are 108,606 cases compared to 61,254 cases with 154 deaths, which is a 48.1 per cent increase when compared to 104 deaths in the same period last year.

"The six states showing the highest cases are Selangor (60,024), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (13,435), Johor (9,194), Kelantan (5,024), Sabah (4,444) and Penang (3,802) while the other nine states recorded less than 3,000 cases each," said Dzulkefly in his reply to a question by Merbok MP (PH) Nor Azrina Surip.
