PUTRAJAYA, Oct. 10 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called on Malaysians to support global efforts for peace in Gaza and to refrain from stirring political discord at home.
He said the world's attention, including from Egypt, Qatar and Hamas, is now on ensuring the success of reconciliation efforts in the region, especially after the recent announcement that Israel and Hamas had agreed on the first phase of his Gaza peace plan.
"The focus of the entire world, including Egypt, Qatar and Hamas, is to find a way to ensure that this peace process succeeds. So we in Malaysia are also praying for that," he told reporters after performing Friday prayers at Presint 11 here.
"Let us not raise objections to the visits or similar matter...
