KUCHING, Dec. 13 -- Flooding is forecast to occur in low-lying areas near river basins across 10 divisions in Sarawak from December 13 to 17, according to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).
In a notice issued on Friday, DID said the warning follows an alert-level continuous rain warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) for multiple districts in the state.
"The affected Divisions include Betong, Bintulu, Kapit, Kuching, Limbang, Miri, Serian, Sri Aman, Sibu, and Mukah.
"In Kuching, floods have been forecast to occur in areas near the Sibu Laut (Sg Sibu) and Sg Sarawak (Sg Tabo, Batang Salak) river basins; in Serian, the floods will affect areas near Batang Sadong," DID said.
