SINGAPORE, Oct. 29 -- A small fire broke out at the rooftop of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) yesterday afternoon, sending plumes of smoke into the air before it was swiftly extinguished by staff.
According to AsiaOne, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 1 Bayfront Avenue at about 3.40pm.
The blaze, which involved a plastic mat on the 55th floor, was put out by MBS staff using a hose reel before firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported.
An MBS spokesperson told The Straits Times that the fire occurred in an area not accessible to guests.
SCDF said preliminary investigations suggest the fire likely started during nearby welding work.
