PUTRAJAYA, Feb. 7 -- The Government welcomes and respects the Federal Court's decision, which ruled that the terms "offensive" and "annoy" under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588) are valid and consistent with the Constitution.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who is also the Madani Government spokesperson, said that the decision was made unanimously by the panel.
"This morning, there was a Federal Court decision regarding a case brought by activist Heidy Quah, in which the Federal Court unanimously ruled that the words 'offensive' and 'annoy' under Section 233 of Act 588 are valid and constitutional.
