KUANTAN, Nov. 11 -- Police discovered 240 kilogrammes of cannabis worth RM5.34 million inside a car abandoned at an East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction site in Bentong, Pahang.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the discovery was made at around 11.30am on Nov 4 following a report from a contractor who spotted the suspicious vehicle left on a weighbridge at the site along Jalan Lama Bentong-Bukit Tinggi, Berita Harian reported.

A team of officers was dispatched to the location to investigate the vehicle, which had been left unattended for several hours.

Upon inspection, police found 120 transparent plastic packets containing cannabis buds packed in nine boxes inside the car.
