KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 16 -- The suspect in the stabbing of a 16-year-old female student is believed to have been influenced by video games and social media content, which allegedly drove him to commit the violent act at their school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police are investigating which social media platforms, video games, or other online content the suspect had accessed that may have influenced him.

"In yesterday's statement, we mentioned that the suspect was influenced by social media.

"Social media is vast, so we are giving the police space to determine which platforms truly affected him.
