SEBERANG PERAI, March 18 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said mosques should not be a place to spread hatred and sow seeds of suspicion.

He said such actions should be rejected as it is becoming increasingly widespread and excessive.

"This should not be allowed to continue. Islam teaches us to respect relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims," he said in his speech when officiating the new Masjid Jamek Prai.

He said for a country to be developed, peace among its people must be maintained.

"There must be good relationship not only among Muslims, but also between Muslims and non-Muslims," he said.

He said even if there are differences in opinions, it can be overcome through proper dialogue instead of through insults.
