KOTA KINABALU, Sept. 15 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the immediate deployment of government resources to assist Sabah residents hit by ongoing floods and landslides, pledging swift relief and financial support.

He had gone to Qatar to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha to join world Islamic leaders to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza when the news of the deadly floods and landslides broke.

"I am deeply moved by the impact of the floods currently ravaging Sabah. I have instructed the Madani Government machinery to act immediately so aid can reach the affected people without disruption," Anwar, who is also finance minister,said in a Facebook post this afternoon.
