GEORGE TOWN, Oct. 30 -- All flood evacuees in Penang returned home within three days.

Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the flood situation in the state was resolved within two to three days.

"According to the statistics obtained by the state, three districts in Penang were affected by floods - North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai and the South-west district in the island," he said in a press conference after announcing the Penang International Science Fair at the Penang Science Cluster here today.

He said seven temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were opened after flooding in some areas at the three districts following heavy rain last week.

"A total of 1,201 victims from 333 families were involved," he said.
