LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 -- Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers has died at the age of 48, the band announced on social media. Rivers, who provided both bass and backing vocals for the influential nu metal group, was remembered by bandmates Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland, and DJ Lethal in a heartfelt Instagram tribute as "our brother, our bandmate, our heartbeat."

The statement described Rivers as "pure magic," praising his effortless talent, unforgettable presence, and enormous heart. "From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced," the band wrote.

"His spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory."
