India, Nov. 17 -- In a cultural landscape addicted to the next big thing, there's a particular thrill in watching designers dig into their archives to make the old new again. At Art Mumbai, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla leaned into that instinct, closing the night with Tabu in a reimagined onyx-black edition of their iconic Architectural Coat. Encrusted with crystals and thousands of hand-sewn sequins, it was less a garment and more an unveiling - an idea the duo have been chiselling at for decades.
For Abu-Sandeep, India's textile and craft legacies have never been museum artefacts but raw fuel for reinvention. Their Art Mumbai showcase, 'A Thousand and One Nights,' doubled down on that philosophy and staged a one-of-a-kind spectacle.
