India, Oct. 5 -- Thailand is tightening its alcohol rules once again. And this time, the law targets customers, not just bars. Starting 8 November 2025, anyone caught drinking alcohol in pubs or bars outside the legal hours could face fines of up to THB 10,000 (over INR 27,370 approx.). A seriously hefty penalty.
The law comes under an amendment to the 'Alcoholic Beverage Control Act,' which already bans the sale of alcohol between midnight - 11:00 and 14:00 and 17:00 (barring restaurants). Until now, enforcement has mainly targeted businesses selling alcohol after hours. The revised law makes customers themselves liable, so you can now be fined for drinking during restricted times at outlets.
