India, Aug. 12 -- From the first video game consoles of the 1970s to the Nintendo Switch 2, which dropped in June 2025, hundreds of millions of the world's most popular gaming devices have been sold to players eager to immerse themselves in their favourite franchises from Assassin's Creed to Zelda.

And the market only looks set to grow further, with the release of newer, most sophisticated options. Just three days after the hotly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 officially launched, Microsoft announced its upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handheld devices. The Xbox consoles are created in collaboration with Asus and are expected to be released at the end of 2025.
