The fashion frow has not been unfamiliar with access being reserved for a few. From bespoke private couture fittings to luxury waitlists, the idea of fashion as a closed circle has always persevered. But after a decade that celebrated accessibility, bolstered by social media, influencer culture, and fast fashion's ubiquity, looking back, this shift is here to stay. Gatekeeping seems to be back, for the long haul. Only now, it's dressed in limited-edition streetwear, vintage designer finds, and invite-only drops.
