India, June 15 -- Lucknow, the historic capital of Uttar Pradesh, was officially nominated for inclusion in UNESCO's prestigious Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as a City of Gastronomy this June 2025. This nomination recognises Lucknow's rich culinary heritage and its significant role in shaping India's gastronomic landscape.
Should the nomination be approved, Lucknow will become only the second Indian city to hold this esteemed title, joining Hyderabad in Telangana. This recognition would place Lucknow amongst the ranks of other global cities celebrated for their culinary heritage and cuisine, such as Bergen in Norway, Belem in Brazil, and Alba in Italy.
