Directed by Choi Jung-in, the series is about a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent (played by Seo Kang-joon) who goes undercover as a high school student to track down Emperor Gojong's missing gold. The show is written by Im Young-bin, known for highest-rated K-dramas like Bad Prosecutor (2022) and Sketch (2018).

According to Nielsen Korea, Undercover High School scored an average viewership rating of 5.6 per cent after its premiere on 21 February 2025.
