India, Aug. 21 -- In the past couple of years, we've seen a surge in legacy sequels. From Gladiator II (2024) and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) to Freakier Friday (2025), many classic cinematic IPs are being revived. And with some exciting titles in the pipeline, fans can't keep calm for the upcoming legacy sequels to hit theatres.

Previously sparsely sprinkled throughout the year, like Top Gun: Maverick (2022), starring Tom Cruise, legacy sequels are slowly becoming the norm. In fact, 2025 saw an influx of them with titles like 28 Years Later, Final Destination: Bloodlines and Happy Gilmore 2. This trend signals a decline in original storytelling in Hollywood, as we've been inundated with adaptations and sequels lately.
