Gandhinagar, March 6 -- US-based electronics manufacturing giant Jabil Inc has announced plans to establish a second facility in India, investing Rs 1,000 crore in Gujarat.

This move is set to bolster India's semiconductor industry, generate employment, and advance optical networking solutions.

The agreement, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jabil and the Gujarat government at the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit, marks a significant step in the state's high-tech manufacturing ambitions.

Jabil's new facility will explore post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics technology, focusing on advanced co-packaged optics capabilities.
