New Delhi, Jan. 1 -- Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions continued to soar in December 2025 with total payment count rising 29% year-on-year to 21.63 billion during the month.
The transaction volume recorded in December was also the highest ever, reflecting faster adoption of digital payment methods.
The value of transactions during December 2025 stood at Rs 27.97 lakh crore, a growth of 20% year-on-year.
As per National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) data, average daily transactions were 698 million in December 2025 as compared to 682 million in the previous month.
The rise in average daily UPI transactions indicates wider use of the payment system for small-ticket payments.
