Lucknow, Dec. 2 -- There has been substantial progress in electricity availability and distribution in Uttar Pradesh during 2025-26, with the gap between demand and supply reduced to nearly zero, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

As of October 31, 2025, the state has been allocated 9,935.1 MW of firm power and 250.6 MW from unallocated central sector quotas.

While electricity supply and distribution remain primarily the responsibility of the state government and its utilities, the central government supplements this through power generation from central sector public undertakings.
