New Delhi, Dec. 17 -- The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the largest biometric identity system with around 134 crore Aadhaar holders, has implemented multiple measures to safeguard the personal data of Aadhaar number holders.

The system has completed over 16,000 crore authentication transactions, with no reported breach of data from the UIDAI database to date.

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on 17 December 2025, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, stated that UIDAI has adopted a multi-layered security infrastructure based on the defence-in-depth concept, continuously reviewed and audited to maintain robust data protection.
