Mumbai, Feb. 14 -- Tata.ev, India's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced an ambitious plan to expand the country's EV charging infrastructure significantly.
The company aims to more than double the number of charge points to 400,000 by 2027, ensuring greater accessibility for EV users nationwide.
Currently, India has 18,000 public chargers and over 150,000 private or home/office chargers. With the growing EV population, charger utilisation rates have risen from an initial 3-4 per cent to over 20 per cent in prime locations.
Mass-deployed chargers generally break even at a utilisation rate of 10-15 per cent, highlighting the increasing demand for robust charging infrastructure.
