Surat, March 13 -- Representatives from the Surat textile industry are scheduled to meet with Union Minister of State for Textile, Darshana Jardosh, next week to discuss their concerns regarding the implementation of the BIS code on both domestic and imported yarns.

The delegation will also include representatives of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).

Himanshu Bodawala, SGCCI President said," With the BIS code coming into effect from April 3, there will be a shortage of yarns in the market. This will also affect lakhs of power loom weavers and labourers who will not get yarn to run the factories."
