New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- India's smartphone exports to the United States, its largest market, have fallen sharply by 58 percent over three months, according to data released on Monday by the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI).

Exports dropped from USD 2.29 billion in May 2025 to USD 964.8 million in August, declining steadily month by month-USD 2 billion in June and USD 1.52 billion in July.

GTRI described the development as alarming and counter-intuitive, noting that smartphones face no tariffs in the US.

"This demands urgent investigation to uncover the real reasons that are driving the fall," the think tank said, according to PTI.
