New Delhi, May 19 -- Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the government has received 70 applications for its Rs 23,000-crore Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), with small and medium enterprises comprising the majority of applicants.

These applications were submitted within just 15 days of the application window opening on May 1.

Vaishnaw highlighted that approximately 80 percent of the applications have come from small and medium enterprises, demonstrating broad industry interest beyond just large manufacturers.

The Rs 22,805-crore ECMS aims to address the significant demand-supply deficit in the electronic component segment.
