New Delhi, March 11 -- India has announced that certificates of inspection from government authorities for rice exports will only be required for specific European markets, according to a notification issued Monday by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

The requirement for certification from the Export Inspection Council (EIC) or Export Inspection Agency applies exclusively to rice shipments destined for European Union member states, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, the notification specified.

For exports to other European countries, this certification requirement has been temporarily waived for a period of six months, providing relief to exporters serving those markets.
