New Delhi, March 12 -- The renewable energy sector's contribution to India's total electricity generation has reached 22.49 percent in the 2024-25 fiscal year (until January), according to information provided by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Shripad Yesho Naik, Union Minister of State for Renewable Energy, shared this data in a written response to questions raised by CPI MP V Sivadasan.

The minister highlighted a steady growth trajectory in the renewable energy sector, with its contribution to total energy generation increasing from 17.28 percent in 2014-15 to 20.75 percent in 2023-24, as documented in the Renewable Energy Statistics Report 2023-24.
