New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- Bangladesh reached a new milestone in fish exports to India through the Benapole land port during the 2024-25 fiscal year, shipping13,742 tonnesof farmed fish worth aboutTk 470.62 crore.
Of this,13,210 tonnescomprised freshwater species such as pabda, pangas, parshe, bhetki, tengra, tilapia, and pona. Another532 tonneswere hilsa.
In comparison, the previous fiscal year saw 8,292 tonnes of fish exported via Benapole, generating overTk 312crore. This year's figures represent a nearly50% increasein both quantity and value.
Jashore district, a key hub of fish farming, also recorded higher production. In 2024-25, total production reached248,194 tonnes, up from 245,000 tonnes in the previous year.
