Chandigarh, Feb. 17 -- The Punjab government has announced plans to install an additional 20 megawatts (MW) of rooftop solar photovoltaic capacity on government buildings during the 2025-26 fiscal year, building upon its existing successful solar infrastructure program.

Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora reported on Sunday that the state has already achieved significant progress in its solar initiative, with 4,474 government buildings currently equipped with rooftop solar panels.

These installations, totaling 34 MW in capacity, generate more than 49 million units of electricity annually. The grid-connected solar systems provide multiple operational advantages, according to Minister Arora.
