Ludhiana, April 9 -- Weather experts from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have raised an alert about an impending heat wave expected to sweep across North India in the coming days.

Both day and night temperatures have already been recorded 4-5degC above normal in the first week of April, raising serious concerns for crop health and public safety.

P.K. Kingra, Head of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology and Climate Change at PAU, stated that temperatures are projected to rise by an additional 2-4degC.

"Such conditions could become more intense, as the India Meteorological Department has forecast heat wave conditions at isolated locations across the state," she said.
