New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- More than 26 lakh households across the country have benefited under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) as of December 2025, with the Centre disbursing Rs 14,771 crore as central financial assistance.

Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said the scheme, launched in February 2024, is a demand-driven initiative that allows residential consumers with grid-connected electricity connections to install rooftop solar (RTS) systems through the national portal.

According to official data, 20.85 lakh rooftop solar systems have been installed nationwide, benefiting 26.14 lakh households so far.
