New Delhi, Jan. 1 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the discontinuation of the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for cars under the Car/Jeep/Van category for all new FASTag issuances, effective from 1 February 2026.

The decision is aimed at improving public convenience and addressing issues faced by highway users due to post-activation verification requirements.

According to NHAI, the move is expected to provide relief to a large number of road users who had experienced delays and repeated follow-ups after FASTag activation, despite submitting valid vehicle documents at the time of issuance.
