New Delhi, July 24 -- Mobile phone exports from India have surged 127-fold, reaching Rs 2 lakh crore in 2024-25, up from just Rs 1,500 crore in 2014-15, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

In a written reply to Parliament, Prasada attributed the growth largely to the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing (LSEM), launched to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence.

"The PLI Scheme for LSEM has attracted a cumulative investment of Rs 12,390 crore, facilitated a production output of Rs 8.44 lakh crore, enabled exports worth Rs 4.65 lakh crore, and created over 1.3 lakh direct jobs as of June 2025," the minister stated...
