Mumbai, July 9 -- Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant announced plans to transform Gadchiroli into a major industrial hub through a Rs 1 lakh crore steel project during a state legislature session on Monday.

The minister outlined the initiative while responding to a resolution under Rule 293, stating that the project will establish a comprehensive steel industry ecosystem spanning across Chandrapur, Gondia, and Bhandara districts.

The state has demonstrated strong performance in implementing agreements signed during the World Economic Forum at Davos, with Samant claiming Maharashtra executes 85 per cent to 87 per cent of its commitments, surpassing other states in the country.
