Mumbai, Nov. 17 -- The Indian Navy will commission Mahe, the first vessel of the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on 24 November 2025.
The Mahe-class refers to a new series of eight indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC) being built for the Indian Navy.
These vessels are designed specifically for detecting, tracking, and engaging enemy submarines in coastal, or shallow, waters where larger warships struggle to operate effectively.
The induction marks a notable advance in India's indigenous shipbuilding programme and supports the country's Aatmanirbhar Bharat objectives.
