New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- India's auto component sector, with a turnover of $80.2 billion in FY 2025-exports of $22.9 billion and a trade surplus exceeding $450 million-is facing fresh headwinds following the U.S. government's latest tariff escalation.

On August 6, 2025, the U.S. announced an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports, raising the total import duty to 50% effective August 27. This follows a 25% tariff imposed earlier in May 2025.
