New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- India's national power transmission network has surpassed 5 lakh circuit kilometres (ckm), hitting a new record in the country's electricity distribution network.
This achievement was marked on 14 January 2026 with the commissioning of a 628 ckm transmission line of 765 kV connecting Bhadla II to Sikar II substation for evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan's Bhadla, Ramgarh, and Fatehgarh Solar Power Complexes.
The new line enables an additional 1,100 MW of power transfer from these renewable energy zones, as per a statement from Power Ministry.
Since April 2014, India's transmission network has expanded by 71.6 per cent , adding 2.09 lakh ckm of transmission lines.
