New Delhi, May 19 -- India's pharmaceutical industry witnessed a significant 7.8 per cent year-on-year growth in April 2025, with total sales reaching Rs 19,711 crore.
This surge is attributed to strategic government policies emphasising affordability, innovation, and inclusivity.
A key contributor to this growth is the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), which provides quality generic medicines at affordable prices through over 9,000 dedicated stores across the country.
These stores offer medicines at prices 50-90 per cent lower than branded equivalents, ensuring accessibility for low-income households.
