Shimla, Feb. 25 -- Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India's defence exports have reached Rs 23,000 crore in 2023-24, while the country has achieved 88 percent self-sufficiency in ammunition production.
Speaking at the 16th Foundation Day of IIT Mandi, Singh outlined the government's ambitious target of increasing defence exports to Rs 50,000 crore by 2029.
During his address, the Defence Minister emphasised the critical importance of technological advancement in strengthening India's defence capabilities.
He specifically highlighted artificial intelligence warfare, cybersecurity, indigenous AI chip manufacturing, and quantum technology as key areas requiring focused development.
