New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- India's sugar mills are expected to fall short of the 1 million tonne export quota set for the ongoing season, with shipments projected at around775,000 tonnes, according to government and trade officials.

Earlier this year, the government permitted sugar exports of up to 1 million tonnes bySeptember 30, 2025to help reduce surplus stocks and support domestic sugar prices, which had dropped to their lowest levels in about 18 months.
