New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- India's growing prominence as a base for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) is now giving rise to a new trend - the expansion of Global Legal and Compliance Centres (GLCCs).

These centres are transforming from back-office units into strategic engines driving legal innovation, governance excellence, and multinational decision-making.

Currently, around 10% of India's 1,800 GCCs host legal and compliance functions - about 180 GLCCs employing nearly 6,000 lawyers across sectors like banking, pharmaceuticals, retail, technology, and energy.
