New Delhi, March 27 -- According to the latest data released by the Tea Board of India, the country exported 254 million kilograms (Mkg) of tea in 2024, making it the second-largest tea exporter in the world.
While Kenya retained its top position with over 500 Mkg in exports, India surpassed Sri Lanka, which had been a close competitor.
In 2023, India and Sri Lanka had nearly identical export figures, each around 231 Mkg. However, India outperformed its neighbor in 2024 by exporting 24 Mkg more, securing the second spot globally.
This achievement marks India's second-best tea export performance, just behind the record 256 Mkg exported in 2018. The total revenue generated from tea exports in 2024 amounted to Rs 7,112 crore.
